As someone who is obsessed with all things bookish, I’ve accumulated many book-related items over the years. With the holiday season in full swing, I’ve put together a list of my favorite items that would be perfect gifts for yourself or a person in your life that loves books!

Bookmarks

Not all bookmarks are created equal, but there are a lot of great ones out there. My favorite place to get bookmarks is Fleurs on Sunday, a shop based in the UK. I discovered them through Etsy and quickly became obsessed. Don’t ask how many of their bookmarks I own, because the number is embarrassing, but I can guarantee that you’re going to get a great product. The designs are adorable, and the texture is so nice! Be sure to order this ahead of time, though, as they can take a while to arrive depending on where you live.
Book Covers

While I have let go of my need to have my books in perfect condition, I still like to protect them where I can. And, with my hardcover books, using a book cover can create a more comfortable reading experience all around. I’ve had mixed results trying to find a great book cover, but I struck gold with Aphrodite Bookclub. Their large book covers are perfect for my average hardcover books, and the designs are really great! This is another item that I would be sure to order ahead to make sure that it arrives on time.
A Reading Light
For the longest time, I didn’t see the use in these. I figured that I could just keep my bedroom light on while reading because I’m an adult, and not a child hiding their book under the covers while reading past their bedtime (which absolutely used to be me). However, I had issues with my bedroom light and ended up without it for a while, prompting me to go ahead and buy a reading light. My goodness, I’m so glad that I did. I found this beauty (paid link) and it’s completely elevated my nighttime routine. It’s so much gentler on my eyes, helping me unwind for bed.
Book Sleeves

These are similar to book covers but are more for protecting a couple books at once while transporting them places, while also offering a place for you to put annotating supplies. My favorite book sleeves have come from Haley Pham, but those sell out almost immediately after they’re back in stock. Aphrodite Bookclub does have great book sleeves, but I prefer them with zippers to better protect and contain the books. I’ve found a couple of decent options on Amazon, here and here (paid links). They aren’t thick or quilted, but they get the job done well enough for me.
PopSockets
If a reader enjoys reading on their phone or e-reader, they’re definitely going to want a PopSocket to ensure the most comfortable reading experience. This is an adorable PopSocket (paid link) that I bought months ago, and I absolutely love it. I read excessively on my phone, so it helps me optimize comfort for the genuine hours that I spend reading e-books.
Gift Card
It can be hard to buy books for a reader, so if you don’t know exactly what books they’re wanting, it may be best to just get them a gift card. You can use our affiliate link to get a gift card through Bookshop.org! If you aren’t familiar with Bookshop.org, they’re an amazing company that supports independent bookstores by partnering with them and sharing a big chunk of their profits. You can learn more about them here!
A Bookish Box

If you do know what book a reader wants, you can put together a box of goodies based on that book. Start with a copy of the book — bonus points if you’re able to find a special edition of said book. From there, find themed items inspired by the book like a bookmark, stickers, maybe even a candle. Etsy is a really great place to find these items. You can also include any of the items listed above for a more well-rounded box. Add in a snack or two, a beverage option like tea or cocoa, maybe some annotating supplies, and you’ve got a great box! This will curate an experience for the reader, and as someone who’s been on the receiving end of one before, it will definitely be a fun and special experience for them.
Thank you for exploring with us! Until next time, may the pages and paths ahead of you be great.
